July 1, 2025 Sumter FL Deputy's poor response to odor complaint
Deputy: “It’s part of the problem of living near a garbage dump. That's what you gotta deal with." Resident: "So you as a police officer to serve and protect are telling me I should move?" Deputy then said, "If the smell bothers you, yeah.” He left without helping. Emails to Sumter County Florida Sheriff Pat "Patrick" Breeden were ignored.
Sumter County officials and Sheriff's department refused to internally investigate and stop an on-going health and quality of life problem for over 6 months. Why?
The video was taken on July, 1, 2025. First time the resident called Sumter dispatch about the gagging odor was Dec. 28 of last year. Despite over 6 months of many public health complaints and quality of life issues, no official or law enforcement from Sumter County has officially internally investigated, filed charges or worked to immediately stop the odor.
Emails sent to Sumter County Sheriff Patrick "Pat" Breeden by this resident have gone unanswered as of July 12, 2025.
This resident is within the jurisdiction of Sumter County officials and Sheriff's department, yet they refuse to immediately help or act to work hand and hand on a daily basis with those that can. Shame on you Sumter County.

Sumter County Florida government officials are ignoring myself, as well as hundreds, if not thousands, of on-going public health complaints regarding health and quality of life issues. Their failure to act immediately concerning a public health and quality of life problem is dangerous, unconstitutional and extremely unethical. Shame on you Sumter County!
